With in-depth expertise and customised solutions, VAPO advises customers in optimising water valves for their specific needs.
Check valves
When it is to direct the flow off waste water or the flow in a extended chemical processes, when in your installation one way direction is needed, a check valve has to be installed. Our range is vast and our experts are happy to help you to make to make the selection for the correct check valve for your process.
As a specialist in valves, VAPO naturally also supplies check valves for your process installations, whether you are servicing an existing installation and want to replace a check valve, or designing a completely new process… At VAPO you will find the backflow prevention you need. What’s more, we are happy to offer you all the additional expertise you need. Tell us about the intended operational conditions for check valve deployment, and we will provide you with the perfect valve.
Check valves for every process
We supply check valves for installation in pipes with diameters of 15 to 1000mm, suitable for applications from fine-meshed processes to huge rinsing and washing installations with high volumes and temperature. Our range includes three types of check valves.
Three types of check valves
- The most common type is our CP series, a relatively simple hinged check valve that works as a kind of ‘cat flap’. The housing and the flap can be made of steel, stainless steel 316, aluminium bronze or bronze.
- For heavier applications, we offer the ‘double-door’ DC series with a housing made of cast iron or stainless steel and a large bore. This valve incorporates two semi-valves that work as double swing doors. A spring closes them again if there is insufficient back pressure.
- Finally, we have a smaller (15-200 mm) non-return valve which is also equipped with a spring that closes the valve if the back pressure is lost. However, this round valve does not move like a hinged door but springs up and down, more like a stopper in a sink.
The right seat for every application
As with any valve, the seat plays a key role in correct and reliable check valve operation. It is therefore important to choose the right seat for each application. Depending on the type of check valve, a seat made of EPDM, BUNA, Viton, PTFE, Silicone, or metal can be used. Of course, the choice depends on the application. If temperatures are high, PTFE is suitable. If an abrasive medium flows through the pipes, PTFE is not recommended. BUNA synthetic rubber, on the other hand, offers excellent resistance to all kinds of oily media. If you work with food, you should choose materials with FDA approval. Our experts will be happy to advise you on the selection of the right housing, valve, and seat for your specific process.
Certification and technical specs
We can supply all our check valves with a 3.1 material certificate, which guarantees reliable materials are used. Of course, specific certificates are available for special applications – such as the supply of drinking water, the production and transport of foodstuffs, or use in an ATEX environment. Incidentally, machine builders and engineers can request the 3D drawings of all products that we keep in stock ourselves.
Which check valve is best for your application?
Choosing the right backflow preventer depends on where in your installation the valve is needed and what flows through it.
